(Deuteronomy 4:2 [KJV]) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I
command you.
(Proverbs 30:5, 6 [KJV]) Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
(Isaiah 28:10 [KJV])
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
(Isaiah 28:13 [KJV])
But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
(2 Peter 1:20 [KJV])
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
All of the studies, book or topical, found here, are done with research with mainly two things: The KING JAMES BIBLE and a plain old, 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Why? Outside of actually studying secular and Jewish history, archaeology, one needs nothing more. You do not need foreign, dead languages that no one speaks, lexicons, concordances or commentaries, because they differ not only with one another and with the KING JAMES BIBLE, but they create division, confusion, debate, and unbelief. We do not need them. That Word of God written and preserved for us in our own language is supposed to be enough, like the Old Testament was for the Jews, and the New Testament for the early Christians in Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish, German, etc. There are studies within as tangents on words, subjects found within the two testaments, as to broaden the scope of the study, to learn more, deeper truths. This is not an intellectual site with PhDs, theologians, and no worldly wisdom.. Check everything out, everything. Not just here, but with everything you read and see and hear. Be Bereans:
(Acts 17:11 [KJV])
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Always research for yourself, use all of the context, and never privately interpret!
Galatians Chapter 6
(Galatians 6:1 [KJV])
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
OVERTA'KE, v.t.
To come up with in a course, pursuit, progress or motion; to catch. The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake. Exo 15.
To come upon; to fall on afterwards. Vengeance shall overtake the wicked.
To take by surprise.
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye who are spiritual, restore such one in the spirit of meekness. Gal 6.
The context means that the person was tempted, took the temptation and, without any self control exercised, fell from grace
This can and does happen to all of us at some time
That said, if the man repents and needs prayer, pray and move on.
This does not mean that they may not have any consequences, such as having to step down from leadership, lose a marriage, or will not fall again into the same sin
Again, this command is conditional on them repenting, asking for forgiveness, prayer
(Galatians 6:2 [KJV])
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
As a community, congregation, fellowship of believers, we need to help each other with crises as they pop up and according to our ability
This is loving our neighbor, according the the fulfillment of the law of Christ
(Galatians 6:3 [KJV])
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
Anyone, no matter their wealth, talents, status, fame, power on earth, position, title, education, lineage, or anything else who thinks they are better than others is always, always lower than everyone
else
It further teaches that these people are nothing
God's Word teaches us clearly that we are all flesh, all the same in God's eyes in our flesh, fallen, mortal, carnal, sinful. Basically, nothing.
(Philippians 2:3-4 [KJV])
[Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(Galatians 6:4 [KJV])
But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
What you are to God as saved is a child of the King spiritually but, in the flesh, while on earth, the unsaved are children of the enemy of God, sold unto and enslaved to serve sin, the flesh, the
enemy, the world, not God
To prove one's own work means all things we say, do and teach must be held to the mirror of God's Word and fit God's Word
It means to make sure our ministry with careful study, comparing Scripture with Scripture, in context, not privately interpreted, and our work judged according to that.
(Galatians 6:5 [KJV])
For every man shall bear his own burden.
On judgment day, we shall give account of the final tally of our work for God, for our rewards.
Your work will not be used to judge me nor anyone else, nor my work be used to judge you or anyone else.
THis is why we do for others, not just for ourselves
(Galatians 6:6 [KJV])
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
Do not stop a true teacher, only a false one
There are teachers; there are students (disciples of Christ) and there are students who will be raised up as teachers, once they are discipled themselves
(Galatians 6:7-8 [KJV])
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
This principle is woven throughout Scripture from Genesis to Revelation and, outside of God's wonderful grace and mercy, this principle would kill us all very quickly and at a young age!
Consider Adam and Eve, Cain, Noah, Shem, Ham, Japheth, Joseph vs. his brethren, Moses vs. the Israelites, Saul, David, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, the world's empires, pharaohs, kings,
queens, kaisers, presidents, lawyers
The contrast of flesh and spirit here is again very pronounced in their destiny
When you plant a seed of, say, a carrot, you cannot get a non-carrot, a pine tree, a marigold, a rose, onion, lemons, oranges, pineapples, coconuts, a palm tree. You must get as carrot
If your chicken lays eggs you will get only chickens, every time, forever. This will never not be true.
If you want to get something else in agriculture, you have to plant that which you want. It is really so simple a small child can understand it with their mind, but many adults do not understand it
with their mind or their heart, and thus die not understanding it.
(Job 4:8 [KJV])
Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
(Psalms 7:14-16 [KJV])
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch [which] he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.
(Psalms 126:5 [KJV])
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
(Proverbs 22:8 [KJV])
He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
(Luke 16:25 [KJV])
But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
(1 Corinthians 9:11 [KJV])
If we have sown unto you spiritual things, [is it] a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
(Galatians 6:9 [KJV])
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
It is hard at times to do well toward others, especially when they do not appreciate it and rebel gainst God annd us, return to sin, backstab us, etc.
But this reaping a reward will, in the end, all be worth it.
That reward may not be seen in this life; it may be. It will definitely be seen in the afterlife, good or bad.
(Galatians 6:10 [KJV])
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all [men], especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Whenever we can do something good, we should.
James says that to not do it is sin even
(James 4:17 [KJV])
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.
(Galatians 6:11 [KJV])
Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
This may be a clue as to the "thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to buffet me", as in a disability in the writing hand
Nevertheless, it seems that Paul wrote this epistle without a ghostwriter or a surrogate, "amanuensis"
AMANUEN'SIS, n. [L. from manus, hand.]
A person whose employment is to write what another dictates.
(Galatians 6:12 [KJV])
As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
To avoid persecution, they succumbed to the temptation to return to follow the law, forsaking grace through faith
Since circumcision is mentioned, it would therefore have to be the Judaizers spoken of here.
To constrain means to force, compel, coerce, press, strain.
(Galatians 6:13 [KJV])
For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
This is simply the same as in all of Paul's epistles, that no one can and does keep the law, not even "law keepers"
It was all always for show and their own personal glory and still is
(Galatians 6:14 [KJV])
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Amen. There is no glory in any way in trying to keep a law that no one can keep, nor in forcing others to keep it for one's own glory
If we crucify our flesh daily (2:20), we cannot keep the law as dead people.
(Galatians 6:15 [KJV])
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
When we are saved, keeping the law does nothing to save us.
Since we are in Christ Jesus, we are not the same person (creature) as before we got sved. The law, spiritually, has zero effect on us.
