All of the studies, book or topical, found here, are done with research with mainly two things: The KING JAMES BIBLE and a plain old, 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Why? Outside of actually studying secular and Jewish history, archaeology, one needs nothing more. You do not need foreign, dead languages that no one speaks, lexicons, concordances or commentaries, because they differ not only with one another and with the KING JAMES BIBLE, but they create division, confusion, debate, and unbelief. We do not need them. That Word of God written and preserved for us in our own language is supposed to be enough, like the Old Testament was for the Jews, and the New Testament for the early Christians in Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish, German, etc. There are studies within as tangents on words, subjects found within the two testaments, as to broaden the scope of the study, to learn more, deeper truths. This is not an intellectual site with PhDs, theologians, and no worldly wisdom.. Check everything out, everything. Not just here, but with everything you read and see and hear. Be Bereans:

HEBREWS CHAPTER 4: THEREFORE, BELIEVE THE GOSPEL!

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
The fear of God has been lost in this world, especially America, today. We want to talk about His love (good) but that means loving back to God, and that means fearing Him
You have to actually believe the Gospel, not just hear it
Your ears and eyes can work, but if your heart does not accept it, along with your mind, your soul is still unsaved and your spirit is still dead
There is a rest coming for all believers to enter, even if it is not in the life we live here on the earth, because of trials, persecutions, etc.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
There is a difference, as stated above, in hearing that Gospel message, and believing it
The Old Testament Jews were given many signs and wonder that they sought, which too often were not even good enough
We will receive no such signs and wonders so, as Greeks (Gentiles) we end up seeking worldly wisdom, which makes us feel smart, but is
unwise and never saves anyone, making it a waste of time
How foolish to hear the Gospel and then reject salvation, one day finding out you were deceived and wasted your life, no matter how long, how rich!

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
"The works" is the salvation of mankind, since the beginning, because God does not dwell in time like we do
The rest is in the believing the Gospel, even under our trials of this life. We know the future is bright, forever

As Matthew Henry put it: "Hear the voice of his doctrine, of his law, and in both, of his Spirit: hear and heed; hear and yield. Christ's voice must be heard to-day."

The "if" is dependent on us to believe. The work of salvation was already done for us, no work to be added. Just believe on the finished work of the Lamb of God, the LORD Jesus Christ, slain from the foundation of the world.
Once we believe on the LORD Jesus Christ, we can rest even in this tortuous life, knowing we have a future rest coming, guaranteed

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Some believe, many do not, there is a remainder of unsaved people
The works of the law never saved them, or anyone, never do, never will. This is why it says, "because of unbelief"

Today, get saved, you have no guarantees of tomorrow. The author is driving this home through repetition, because our eyes are dim and ears dull of hearing through the deceitfulness of sin in this world

Why did not Jesus give them rest? They did not believe is why
Offering is not the same as accepting
It was for them, in their day, not to be put off for tomorrow
it was not "One day, you will be saved, thousands of years from now. No, it is "today", for them and us. Them in their day, and today for us

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
This rest is avialable as offered to all, but available to enjoy eternally to the people of God-because of belief

Once we get saved, we no longer need our religion that we thought saved us from hell (rites, sacraments, good works, keeping the law, the commandments, statues), which never saved one soul in keeping them

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
This is our work-TO BELIEVE. We labor to enter that rest BY BELIEF
Without which, we work for nothing and lose everything when we die, forever
Jesus specifically told the Jews this, then they wanted a sign that they should believe this, since they got one in the old Testament of manna in the wilderness
Jesus then told them that HE HIIMSELF was that manna that fills like no other manna, in any place, or anyone

The next verses clearly tell us that the Word of God is what God will judge all mankind by, that is sees through, pierces through, all of our things in our head and heart and tells us our intentions, things we never even thought about, that we thought about (2X)
A two edged sword cuts in both directions ,which is why a new believer cannot be given the ministry to teach from it until they are discipled in the meat (deeper teachings of how to live) and that only after the milk (the Gospel message only)

Because, as was stated above, the Word of God will ultimately reveal to all of us that a person does not handle the Word of God well, as they hack themselves to pieces
This is how very large ministries go astray here in the states. Thousands of members, book writers, large conferences, radio and TV programs, and heresy, apostasy
They were good at teaching, having the gift, being charismatic, and the knowledge puffed them up, the secular publishers demanded that they water down doctrines to $ell book$
They obliged, never having really been discipled properly, fully, but were thrust (or thrust themselves) into full time ministry as a novice

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
We....us who believe and are saved, have an eternal God Who is our High Priest, to whom we are to sacrifice our lives, obedience, allegiance, our love, our everything
Jesus will never stop going before the Throne of God (below) on our behalf, Who poured out His own shed Blood on the mercy seat for us and our sins having been the only sacrifice we ever needed to get saved
It is finished, after only One Time, because His Blood shed for us was perfect, holy, without sin, even after living on this earth for over thirty years

Because of what Jesus did for us, we can pray to the Father in Jesus's Name and ask for things we need or even want, but only according to HIS Will for us, not ours.
This is a divisive sticking point today, as many of the "name it and claim it" heresy think that they can ask for anything at all and get it, because they have some sort of power from this promise
This is where the context of any verse determines the meaning, as in the introduction to every page here shows
