INTRODUCTION:

(Deuteronomy 4:2 [KJV])
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

(Proverbs 30:5, 6 [KJV])
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

(Isaiah 28:10 [KJV])
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

(Isaiah 28:13 [KJV])
But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

(2 Peter 1:20 [KJV])
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

All of the studies, book or topical, found here, are done with research with mainly two things: The KING JAMES BIBLE and a plain old, 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Why? Outside of actually studying secular and Jewish history, archaeology, one needs nothing more. You do not need foreign, dead languages that no one speaks, lexicons, concordances or commentaries, because they differ not only with one another and with the KING JAMES BIBLE, but they create division, confusion, debate, and unbelief. We do not need them. That Word of God written and preserved for us in our own language is supposed to be enough, like the Old Testament was for the Jews, and the New Testament for the early Christians in Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish, German, etc. There are studies within as tangents on words, subjects found within the two testaments, as to broaden the scope of the study, to learn more, deeper truths. This is not an intellectual site with PhDs, theologians, and no worldly wisdom.. Check everything out, everything. Not just here, but with everything you read and see and hear. Be Bereans:

(Acts 17:11 [KJV])
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Always research for yourself, use all of the context, and never privately interpret!

Genesis Chapter 10

THE TABLE OF NATIONS

Acts 17:26
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Saved or not, we are all related by blood, starting with Adam and Eve. This is even acknowledged by science, with the recent discovery that we all come from one woman, dubbed "Mitochondrial Eve". But once we are saved, we are also related by another Blood, the Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ. But, Post-Flood, only eight of Adam's descendants survived, and only his three sons and their wives were left to populate the entire earth, today at around six to seven billion. There were seventy grandsons of Noah, and seventy nations listed in the table of nations, and roughly nations and languages on earth. This is rough, but consistent, and certainly not by coincidence. The Septuagint (LXX) lists seventy seven, but that is not Scripture, and a cheap imposter loaded with errors, does not count.

One thing of note about ancient and modern times. People migrate, win and lose wars, win and lose land, win and lose names, change names, translate and re-translate them, changing the spelling over time, even in the same language. They also are either absorbed or die out, often overnight, leaving very little recorded history. Some endure, to be used of God in later times, even today and in the future. It is God's will which nations are around and which are conquered, destroyed, die out, meaning that some lines of history are a blip after the Flood, some long, some epic.

For this reason, it is often very difficult to pinpoint with any certainty who and where the descendants of Ham, Shem and Japheth were and are today. In some instances, it is easy; others hard. What we name it today is not what God called it then in His Word, but if it is the one God refers to, rest assured the same place and people. For instance, today we call it Jordan. God STILL calls it Moab in prophecy for today (Isaiah-Zephaniah) and the future.

FACTS ABOUT THE THE TABLE OF NATIONS

Genesis 10:1
Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
GENERA'TION, n. The act of begetting; procreation, as of animals.
  1. 1. Production; formation; as the generation of sounds or of curves or equations.
  2. A single succession in natural descent, as the children of the same parents; hence, an age. Thus we say, the third, the fourth, or the tenth generation. Gen. 15:16.
  3. The people of the same period, or living at the same time.O faithless and perverse generation. Luke 9.
  4. Genealogy; a series of children or descendants from the same stock. This is the book of the generations of Adam. Gen 5.
  5. A family; a race.
  6. Progeny; offspring.

(Genesis 9:20-27)
And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

CANAAN: SON OF HAM

Genesis 9:25
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

One vital and nearly always overlooked fact about Ham is that it was his son Canaan who was cursed of God in Genesis 9, not Ham himself directly. This confusion has led to all sorts of ideas, such as the color of black people's skins is due to the curse, has led to bias, mistreatment of blacks throughout all of history, and continues today. The Canaanites were bitter enemies of Israel, and it was primarily their land which Israel took (ALL OF IT), along with other lands. This is why exactly we should always rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). In other words, this led also to the idea that the Bible is a "racist" book and teaches that slavery of blacks was OK. This stems from ignorance of the Word of God both in and out of the Church, but especially "atheists", agnostics, "skeptics".
