All of the studies, book or topical, found here, are done with research with mainly two things: The KING JAMES BIBLE and a plain old, 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Why? Outside of actually studying secular and Jewish history, archaeology, one needs nothing more. You do not need foreign, dead languages that no one speaks, lexicons, concordances or commentaries, because they differ not only with one another and with the KING JAMES BIBLE, but they create division, confusion, debate, and unbelief. We do not need them. That Word of God written and preserved for us in our own language is supposed to be enough, like the Old Testament was for the Jews, and the New Testament for the early Christians in Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish, German, etc. There are studies within as tangents on words, subjects found within the two testaments, as to broaden the scope of the study, to learn more, deeper truths. This is not an intellectual site with PhDs, theologians, and no worldly wisdom.. Check everything out, everything. Not just here, but with everything you read and see and hear. Be Bereans:

As a part of a major shipping lane, Corinth has four ports, on the Gulf of Corinth, between two seas
A temple to Apollo was there
Another temple was one to Aphrodite, an acropolis known as Acrocorinth, which was associated with prostitutes for the seafaring men, which made it a rich city
Perusing the two letters Paul wrote to them, it is obvious that they were apostate and backslidden.

1 Corinthians Chapter 5: SIN IN THE CAMP

(1 Corinthians 5:1 [KJV])
It is reported commonly [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

How did Paul know about this? This person bragged about it and either it was to Paul or someone who told Paul.

"Commonly" reported means well known, as in the person boasted about it to others

Having relations with your own step-mother. In Corinth, calling themselves Christians in the public square

It is, to God, the same as uncovering the nakedness of one's father

It was placing a curse on the old testament Jews, so it would be abominable, detestable, loathsome to God, even today, as 2,000 years ago

The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it [is] thy father's nakedness.

Cursed [be] he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.

This person was supposed to be dealt with by both exposing the sin and breaking of fellowship.

One does not have to be with the sinner to recognize and call out the sin(s)

There is one Holy Spirit. When we pray, it is to the same God, the Father, through the Son the LORD Jesus Christ. Same prayer, different people and place. There is unity in prayer and distance says nothing of it, does nothing to it.

Paul can judge this because he trusts the testimony, the witnesses, as he discipled them.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

God will take this person home if they are saved, because they no longer glorify Him.

When Paul says, :and my spirit", it is that he is present, just not bodily, because they unite in prayer, through the Holy Spirit

When we gather in the Spirit, in prayer, in fellowship, the absent who are of the same mind are with us in spirit-THE SPIRIT

Once turned over to the enemy by God through prayer, no man stands a chance. No one does.

In the end, God decides, and the enemy is permitted or disallowed according to His will, and only with His permission.

Leaven (yeast) represents sin in Scripture

Making bread, one knows the amount of yeast needed to raise it and that is not much in a whole loaf

By the same token, in a local body, it takes but one trouble maker, one heretick, one loud mouth to divide an entire congregation.

If they were glorying in this person's sin, that is bad for the whole congregation

I do not know in baking how to remove leaven once it is sprinkled into a batch of dough, wet or dry

I can say that, once a bad batch of leavened dough enters a good, solid, unleavened congregation to stir things up and cause division, it is hard to remove

But, once done, it is like a breath of fresh air, a new lump of unleavened dough, a fully new congregation

Verse five above simply puts how this is done, by delivering the unjust one over to the enemy for the destruction of the flesh

Christ our Passover Lamb, sacrificed for us, means forgiveness, eternal life, even for us sinners, with the leaven of and in our lives, as He purges it for us.

Leaven represents sin, here as being insincere and lying, unleavened meaning sincere and truthfully

Old being malice and wickedness, is what they were, what we were

Leavened bread=SINFUL LIFE; UNLeavened bread=SINLESS LIFE

MAL'ICE, n. [L.malitia, from malus, evil.] Extreme enmity of heart, or malevolence; a disposition to injure others without cause, from mere personal gratification or from a spirit of revenge; unprovoked malignity or spite.
--Nor set down aught in malice.
MAL'ICE, v.t. To regard with extreme ill will. [Not used.]

I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

We are to separate out the leaven from ourselves, our lump, our congregation

To fornicate means simply to have sex outside of marriage, before , during, after marriage-OUTSIDE OF IT

Here the Scripture, in its context, is specifically speaking of believers doing this sort of behavior, not unbelievers, as the following verses clearly state and show

FORNICATION: BELIEVERS BREAKING FELLOWSHIP, COMPANY

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Again, this is speaking of believers, breaking fellowship with those who are believers practicing such things, not the unbelievers

This is because, as stated clearly here, we could not deal with anyone on earth, and would have to leave earth, leave the entire world and live in a cave!

Coveting, extorting, worshiping other gods, and fornicating, all evils of this world, all related. A person covets another person's spouse, takes them in fornication. A person extorts by violently taking through threats, menacing. An idolater worships another person, overly adores them, places them on a pedestal in the place of God.

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

So we have fornication, coveting, extortion, railing (scoffing) at, worship of false gods, drunkards-all seem to describe our world now

This was also Paul's world, bringing meaning to the verse, "No new thing under the sun"

The thing that hath been, it [is that] which shall be; and that which is done [is] that which shall be done: and [there is] no new [thing] under the sun. Is there [any] thing whereof it may be said, See, this [is] new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. [There is] no remembrance of former [things]; neither shall there be [any] remembrance of [things] that are to come with [those] that shall come after.

For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

This section here clearly refutes the lie among believers, "Who are YOU to judge ME!??!!", often said in arrogance, defense of sin, malice, resentment

The Bible says, "I am your brother in CHRIST, that's WHO!!!!!"

(1 Corinthians 5:13 [KJV])
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Why? Because we cannot tell a person unsaved to stop a sin-they are incapable, and need to be saved first

The world is to be judged by God, because we cannot tell them in judgment they are anything, only warn and preach the Gospel.

The distinction here is that we ARE to judge those in the church who are in error, in sin, wrong with their doctrine and/or their lives.
