Revelation Chapter 7

(Revelation 7:1)
And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
  • "After these things" which are the seven seals of chapter 6
  • These four corners are simply the north, south, east, west
  • Is this the calm before the storm?
  • This also is stagnant, putrid air from pollution and a lack of winds
(Isaiah 11:12)
And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

(Revelation 7:2-3)
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
  • This is not the church, but 144,000 Jews, as evangelists
  • The seal is to indicate that they are handpicked
(John 15:15)
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

(Galatians 4:7)
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

THE FOREHEAD SEAL: EZEKIEL

(Ezekiel 9:4)
And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

(Revelation 7:4)
And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
  • Whether it is visible to men, it unknown; it is visible to God and the enemy, the anti-Christ
(Revelation 14:1)
And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

  • This is the Redeemed
  • Palms were in the Temple of the LORD built by Solomon
  • Jericho was called the "city of palm trees" in the Bible, repeatedly
  • Palm trees are symbols of being upright, straight and righteous (Psalm 92:12)
  • Palm trees and fronds have always been used as a symbol of victory, triumph and superiority throughout history among many nations
WEBSTERS:
"Branches of the palm being worn in token of victory, hence the word signifies superiority, victory, triumph. The palm was adopted as an emblem of victory, it is said, because the tree is so elastic as when pressed, to rise and recover its correct position."

JERICHO: THE CITY OF PALM TREES

(Deuteronomy 34:3)
And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.

SOLOMON AND THE TEMPLE

UPRIGHT and RIGHTEOUS

(Psalms 92:12)
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

(Song of Solomon 7:7)
This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.

(Song of Solomon 7:8)
I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;

(Jeremiah 10:5)
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

THE TEMPLE IN HEAVEN

(Ezekiel 40:16)
And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windows were round about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.

(Ezekiel 40:22)
And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.

(Ezekiel 40:26)
And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.

And it was made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a cherub and a cherub; and every cherub had two faces;

(Ezekiel 41:19)
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.

(Ezekiel 41:26)
And there were narrow windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch, and upon the side chambers of the house, and thick planks.

A SIGN OF HEALTH TO ISRAEL: THE PALM TREE

(Joel 1:12)
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

PALM TREES BEFORE JESUS

(John 12:13)
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

(Revelation 7:10)
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

  • The righteous know the victory is theirs, but not by their doing
  • This verse, combined with others, is again a claim of Deity for the LORD Jesus Christ
  • This Throne is mentioned thirty two times in Revelation

THE THRONE OF JESUS CHRIST

(Matthew 19:28)
And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

(Matthew 25:31)
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

(Luke 1:32)
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

(Acts 2:30)
Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

(Hebrews 1:8)
But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

(Hebrews 4:16)
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

(Hebrews 8:1)
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

(Hebrews 12:2)
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

(Revelation 7:11-12)
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
  • This is pretty much everyone there, fulfilling God's ultimate purpose of the Creation, to have fellowship with His Creation, perfectly, for the first time since before the Fall
(Revelation 7:13-14)
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
  • Could this be the origination of the elders in our society being called, "Sir"?
(Revelation 7:15)
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
  • These are people from earth in glorified bodies, since God has not dwelt with man on earth since the Fall and certainly not been with all men, only the Holy Spirit indwelling saved people
(Revelation 7:16)
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
  • This is proof that the earth does not need the sun to be lit, when God decides to light it up
(Genesis 1:3-5)
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

(John 8:12)
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

(John 9:5)
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

(Revelation 7:17)
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
