Revelation Chapter 10

This chapter is the space between the sixth and seventh trumpets

(Revelation 10:1)
And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

  • Either this is the LORD Jesus Christ, or a very powerful angel
  • Scholars are divided here, but it is most likely an angel, since Jesus Christ does not any longer take the form of The Angel of the LORD on earth after His death, burial, resurrection, Post-Incarnation
  • The rainbow in chapter 4 is about the throne, not His Head
  • The word "another" is used also, and He would not be "another" anything; He is the One and Only
  • Perhaps a special angel, created just for this task, this position.
  • He is not coming IN the clouds, he is clothed with a cloud
  • This is also not the Second Coming time yet
  • Moses face shone with the Glory of God
  • The Rainbow is a reminder of the Flood, which is tied to the Judgment of the End Times (2 Peter 3:3-11)

(Revelation 10:2)
And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
  • This is the open book of Revelation 5:5
  • Earth and sea is all the world is, really, so this is total judgment of the world
(Revelation 10:3)
And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
  • He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah
  • Seven, the number of perfection
  • Thunder. Something bad is about to break
(Revelation 10:4)
And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

  • Whatever is coming is terrible, and not recorded, probably for that reason
  • This was not just thunder, but a thundering voice with words of judgment
(Revelation 10:5-6)
And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

  • Eternity will start very shortly
  • If a thousand years is as a day to God, then eternity starts...........TOMORROW!
(2 Peter 3:8)
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

(Revelation 10:7)
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

  • All will be revealed, all accomplished, the day God has awaited since the Fall
  • There is the mystery of God, and the mystery of iniquity
  • God's mystery is not revealed until Revelation; the mystery of iniquity has always been open, but misunderstood due to deception
(2 Thessalonians 2:7)
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

(Revelation 10:8)
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
  • This is for John to do now
(Revelation 10:9-10)
And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

  • Only sin can be like that in the mouth and in the stomach
  • Ezekiel was told the same for Israel, with a scroll-eat, go preach
(Ezekiel 3:1-3)
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

(Psalms 19:9-10)
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

(Psalms 119:103)
How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

(Proverbs 14:12)
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

(Hebrews 11:25)
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

(Revelation 10:11)
And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
  • Ezekiel was told the same for Israel, with a scroll-eat, go preach
