Revelation Chapter 14

(Revelation 1:19)
Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

(Revelation 14:1)
And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

  • This has to be a look forward to the Second Coming
  • There has not one been lost
  • Mount Sion here is at Jerusalem, no place else
(Revelation 7:2-4)
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
(Psalms 2:6)
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

(Luke 12:6)
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
(Revelation 14:2)
And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

  • This could be an angel of God (Revelation 8:5 below) or God Himself
  • The angels with harps here is where people get the idea of angels on clouds with harps
(Exodus 20:18)
And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

(Revelation 4:5)
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

(Revelation 8:5)
And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

(Revelation 14:3)
And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

  • This has to be a view into Heaven, with the 144,000 there now
  • Or the 144,000 are still on earth singing the same song as those on earth
  • Earth and Heaven are now in harmony
  • These 144,000 enter into the Millenial Kingdom
  • A song of Redemption can only be sung by a redeemed person

(Psalms 107:2)
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

(Psalms 33:3)
Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

(Psalms 40:3)
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

(Psalms 96:1)
O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.

(Psalms 98:1)
A Psalm. O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

(Psalms 144:9)
I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

(Psalms 149:1)
Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

STILL AT 144,000

(Luke 12:6)
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

(Revelation 14:4)
These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
  • This is probably both literal (best not to be married at this time, for mobility) and spiritual (idolatry)
(Revelation 14:5)
And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

  • Spotless, beyond reproach, no deceptions
  • The world is now deceived, taken in by the anti-Christ
(Revelation 14:6)
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

  • The everlasting Gospel starts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and Genesis 3
  • Creation, Fall, Redemption by the Blood of the Lamb of God, the LORD Jesus Christ
(Revelation 14:7)
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

  • WORSHIP........THE................CREATOR
  • The subject of Creation is always important, central, foundational, and unbelief causes all of our problems, and brings judgment upon man throughout all of mankind's history
    (Romans 1)
  • It is time for the end
(Revelation 14:8)
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

  • "Is fallen, is fallen" means fast
(Genesis 41:32)
And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

(Isaiah 21:9)
And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

(Revelation 14:9-10)
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

  • Opportunity to be saved is now forfeited here, permanently
(Revelation 14:11)
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

  • This is the final resting place of all who willfully, willingly, knowingly reject Jesus Christ
(Revelation 14:12)
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
  • Their patience produces two things: Salvation for them and judgment for their enemy
(Matthew 24:13)
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

(Mark 13:13)
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

(Revelation 3:5)
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

(Revelation 14:13)
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

  • This is for those who missed the Rapture and are left, by dying before..........and now after
  • All they have to do is not worshp the beast and trust in and worship Jesus Christ
(Revelation 14:14)
And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

  • This is none other than the LORD Jesus Christ, and definitely not an Angel, (Son of Man)

(Matthew 8:20)
And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

(Matthew 9:6)
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

(Mark 2:10)
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

(Mark 10:33)
Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

(Luke 9:22)
Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

(Luke 17:24)
For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

(John 1:51)
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

(John 12:23)
And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

(Revelation 14:15-17)
And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

  • Sin has ripened to the full for 6-7,000 years
  • Man has sown to his flesh to all of that time, non-stop, now combining all of that into one mass of sin on earth
  • Jesus foretold of this time exactly in Matthew 13
(Matthew 13:37-43)
He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

(Galatians 6:7-8)
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

(Revelation 14:18-19)
And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

  • The grape juice turned into the fruit of the vine is for communion, because it represents Jesus's blood which saves
  • This blood is shed to save no one, but to judge those who reject God
  • Same process, same death of the flesh, completely different result
  • One man shed His Blood died to save all; all men on earth who reject that Blood sacrifice die and are lost
(Revelation 14:20)
And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

  • This is truly a "bloody mess"! outside of Jerusalem, whose armies had surrounded her
  • See Ezekiel 38

(Luke 21:20)
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
