The Scriptures

  1. They are from God

The Scriptures use the phrase "The Word of the LORD" over 260 times, twelve times in just the first five books, and all of the way through until first Peter, and the phrase "the Word of God" appears over forty five times, for a total of over 300 times, so they certainly teach (claim) that they are God's Word in no uncertain or confusing terms. The Scriptures are sixty six book, by forty authors, over a period of some four thousand years, most of whom never met the other authors, it all being accumulated and then amassed after they were all dead, in such an undeniable and cohesive manner that it is impossible that they are not.

Add to this evidence the proof from impossible, fulfilled prophecies galore-a claim that no other book of books can make at all-and it can only be concluded that this is a book from God, supernatural, and not natural.

    (Genesis 15:1)
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

    (Joshua 8:27)
Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took for a prey unto themselves, according unto the word of the LORD which he commanded Joshua.

    (1 Chronicles 12:23)
And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.

    (Daniel 9:2)
In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

    (Zechariah 7:4)
Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

    (1 Peter 1:25)
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

  2. They are perfectly preserved for us today, without error, as promised, and always will be
  3. (Isaiah 40:6-8)
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

    (Psalms 12:6-7)
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

    (Matthew 24:35)
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
